Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Role Run mobile application (“App”) operated by Role Run (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Definitions

  • “Service” refers to the Role Run mobile application, including all features, content, and functionality made available through the App.
  • “User,” “you,” or “your” refers to any individual who accesses or uses the Service.
  • “Content” refers to all AI-generated stories, narration, text, audio, and other materials produced by or through the Service.
  • “Profile Data” refers to information you provide for story personalization, including but not limited to your name, age range, job role, emotional triggers, motivations, and the name of an important person.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are operated by individuals who do not meet these eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account using a valid email address or third-party authentication provider (Apple ID or Google). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

4.1. The Service operates on a subscription basis. Certain features, including unlimited runs and premium story generation, require an active paid subscription.

4.2. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the time of purchase confirmation. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan selected).

4.3. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least twenty-four (24) hours before the expiration of the current period. You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

4.4. All payments are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's applicable payment terms and policies. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.

4.5. Refunds are handled in accordance with Apple's refund policy. We are unable to issue refunds directly.

5. AI-Generated Content

5.1. The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate stories personalized to your Profile Data. Content is generated dynamically and may vary with each use. No two sessions are guaranteed to produce identical output.

5.2. AI-generated Content may occasionally contain material that is inaccurate, inappropriate, offensive, or otherwise undesirable. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any Content produced by the Service.

5.3. You acknowledge and agree that you use AI-generated Content at your own risk. We expressly disclaim all liability arising from or related to AI-generated Content, including but not limited to claims of defamation, emotional distress, or infringement.

5.4. We reserve the right to modify, filter, or restrict Content generation at any time without prior notice.

6. Personal Data in Story Generation

6.1. To personalize stories, a subset of your Profile Data — including your name, job role, fears, motivations, and the name of an important person — is transmitted to our server-side edge functions and forwarded to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenRouter) for the sole purpose of story generation.

6.2. This data is transient. It is included in the generation prompt, used to produce the story, and is not persisted on our servers or by our AI provider beyond the duration of the request.

6.3. By using the Service, you consent to this transmission and processing of your Profile Data as described herein and in our Privacy Policy.

7. Health and Safety

7.1. The Service is designed for entertainment purposes during physical running activity. You are solely responsible for your safety while using the App. Always maintain awareness of your surroundings, traffic conditions, terrain, and weather.

7.2. The Service is not a substitute for professional medical, fitness, or health advice. Consult a qualified healthcare provider before beginning any exercise program or if you have concerns about your health.

7.3. You agree not to use the Service in any manner that could endanger yourself or others, including but not limited to operating a motor vehicle, cycling, or engaging in activities requiring sustained visual attention.

8. Health Data and HealthKit

8.1. The App may request access to Apple HealthKit to read and write workout data, including distance, calories burned, and heart rate. This integration is optional and requires your explicit authorization.

8.2. HealthKit data is stored exclusively within Apple's HealthKit framework on your device. We do not transmit, sell, share, or otherwise disclose HealthKit data to any third party, including for advertising or data mining purposes.

8.3. HealthKit data is never used for any purpose other than displaying health and fitness information to you within the App and writing completed workouts back to HealthKit at your direction.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1. The Service, including its design, features, code, trademarks, and all non-user-generated content, is the exclusive property of Role Run and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

9.2. AI-generated stories created through your use of the Service are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or publicly display generated Content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

10. Account Termination and Data Deletion

10.1. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion, with or without notice.

10.2. You may request deletion of your account and all associated server-side data (including your email address and authentication session) by contacting us at the address provided in Section 15.

10.3. On-device data — including your profile, run history, saved stories, and location data — is stored locally on your device using SwiftData and can be removed by uninstalling the App.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Role Run, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, regardless of the theory of liability.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Role Run and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Modifications to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where practicable, by providing notice through the App. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Role Run is established, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction.
